September 2023 Rooster Call

The Back to School Bash

By: Daylen Beesley

The back to school bash was originally scheduled for 7/20/2023 at 6:00 PM, but was rescheduled due to extreme heat. The rescheduled date was 7/27/23/2023 at 6:00 PM.

We kicked off the night with a performance by the Little Rooster Cheerleaders. They performed a dance to the song “Dancing in the Country,” along with some cheers.

The performance was followed by the introduction of the USD 269 staff and a BBQ. The BBQ consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs, as well as a side of beans and chips. Once the meal was over, the games began.

There were bouncy houses, volleyball, the rooster train, and water balloon dodgeball. The bouncy houses were packed full of kids. The volleyball game went on all night until water balloon-dodgeball started. By the end of the match, everyone was playing, and people who weren’t, were completely soaked.

We thank the Lions Club for putting on this event every year and everyone who helped.

Back to School

By Barrett Moore

It's  back to the school year again, everyone is back, and doing school work. They are all back roaming the halls and getting to class, and getting back in the swing of things. Everything is going back to normal like every other school year.

Everyone is getting to class again just like last year. All of the people are here. It just seems normal again. Like every other year. All of the friend groups are back together too. Everyone is mostly friendly. Everything is just right.

Homecoming

By Hope Couse

Palco High School homecoming will be held on September 29, 2023. Every class will get to design and create their own floats for the parade. They are all a surprise. Most of them should be throwing out candy, or something for the littles. The parade will start at 2:30 p.m., leaving from the high school and ending downtown. The FFA Labor Auction will immediately follow at the end of the parade. The crowning ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m., and the game will start at 7:00 p.m.

The team will be competing against the Wheatland/Grinnell Thunderhawks. The theme for this year's festivities is black and gold. New York City at night will be this year's theme for the dance. The dance will be held at Palco High School on Saturday, September 30th, at 8:00 p.m.

If you want to have a float in the parade, then come up to the highschool office and ask for a parade entry form. Sign up and we will see you there!
